Abstract

The computer algebra system Mathematica is widely accepted in the scientific and technical community, and it constitutes an exceedingly useful tool thanks to its computing performances and its enormous possibilities, for instance in graphics. This small introductory manual aims to facilitate first steps in Matbematica. Developed for students in engineering schools, it gives an overview of the most important things they have to know, in order to be able to use Mathematica as soon as possible in mathematical and engineering applications. This booklet also applies to each person who would quickly like to learn the essentials of Mathematica without getting lost in very voluminous reference manuals.
